A little space dedicated to one of my hobbies
I'd love to discuss literature, so if you have a great book you'd like to recommend, please let me know. Here are some of my most recent reads (either books I have just finished or ones I am currently reading). I'll try and update every couple of months - if you wanna discuss any of them, hit me up!
Infidel - Ayaan Hirsi Ali
Just finished this and it's one of my favourites by far. If you'd like to explore the oppression and mistreatment of Muslim women under Islamic beliefs (told from the author's real experiences having grown up in a strict Muslim household herself) get this autobiography - it's a great read.
The Kite Runner - Khaled Hosseini
Amazing book - love, betrayal, true friendship and war. I loved it - one of my faves thus far. I can't wait to see the movie. It also made me CRY towards the end lmao :(
The Caged Virgin - Ayaan Hirsi Ali
Just started reading this. Ayaan expresses her thoughts on women and Islam. This book is a compilation of her "essays" as she studies the political implications of Islam - and coming from a Muslim female, it's really interesting to see her question and dig so deep into her own religion from a somewhat "feminist" perspective (as her interest is to "free" women from Islamic culture that can often be oppressing to them).
Will be reading these two next:
A Thousand Splendid Suns - Khaled Hosseini
The Alchemist - Paulo Coelho
...and the following in the next couple of months:
"Eat, Pray, Love" by Elizabeth Gilbert
"The Memory Keeper's Daughter" by Kim Edwards
"Love in the Time of Cholera" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
"In the Name of Honor: A Memoir" by Mukhtar Mai
"Middlesex: A Novel" by Jeffrey Eugenidis
"A Million Little Pieces" by James Frey
and I have
"One Hundred Years of Solitude" by Marquez again. Started reading the first chapter and it's a slower read, so I'm going to wait it out a little.

Thai food is my thing, and I also take a lot of photography, AND I am working on my salsa... but bachata is too difficult at the moment 0_o
I read an old bestseller, Life of Pi, and was working on NEXT. The Kite Runner I have heard so many rave reviews, I might pick that one up sometime... time is so hard to come by!
